Sushma Swaraj visits Hindu temple in Dhaka


Dhaka, June 27 (IANS): External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj prayed here Friday for better ties between India and Bangladesh at the historic Dhakeshwari Mandir, a media report said.

The minister visited the temple on the last day of her three-day trip and offered prayers, the online edition of Prothom Alo newspaper reported.

She spoke in Hindi to other devotees at the oldest Hindu shrine in Dhaka.

"I came to Bangladesh with an open mind. Good relations exist between India and Bangladesh and the relationship will further get better. I am trying to resolve all the issues coming in the way of our ties," Sushma Swaraj was quoted as saying.

Dhakeshwari is considered the presiding deity of Dhaka.
