Kidnapped Delhi boy rescued from Bareilly in UP

New Delhi, June 27 (IANS): A seven-year-old boy who was kidnapped from the New Delhi Railway station earlier this month has been rescued from Uttar Pradesh's Bareilly area, police said Friday.

Sajan, who had come to the station with a relative to receive his mother, was kidnapped June 5 by Manjeet Chauhan, who pretended to be a friend of his mother's relative.

Police said Chauhan and his friend Raju, who helped him in kidnapping the child, were arrested from Uttar Pradesh's Etah area Tuesday.

"Following their arrest and interrogation, the child was also rescued from Uttar Pradesh's Bareilly area where he was found in the house of a woman," said a police officer.

Police also said the duo wanted to sell the child but they failed despite roaming around several cities in Uttar Pradesh for the purpose. Finally, they left the boy with a woman at a bus stand in Moradabad area, asking her to keep an eye on him when they went to the toilet. The woman had taken Sajan to her house in Bareilly.
