Minor boy survives electric shock in Delhi park

New Delhi, July 1 (IANS): A minor boy had a narrow escape after suffering an electric shock when he touched an air cooler in a park, police said Tuesday.

The incident occurred around 8.30 p.m. Sunday when the four-and-half-year-old boy, Sunny, was playing in a park in the Shalimar Bagh area of west Delhi.

The boy got electric shock and got stuck to the air cooler as soon as he touched it, said a police official.

The cooler is installed outside a room in which a water pump is kept and is also the living quarters of a guard.

Seeing his condition, the boy's friends who were playing with him panicked.

But, one of them mustered courage and rushed to call Sunny's mother who came running and rescued her son.

He was rushed to a hospital where he is undergoing treatment and stated to be out of danger.

The boy's family blamed a guard who though present in the park did not try to come to the aid of the child.

A case under Section 337 (causing hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others) of the Indian Penal Code was registered against the guard.
