Mumbai, July 4: "Autobiographies should be a guide to the future generation. They should awaken the society. They should be articles of literature and not a report of experiences," said well-known theater director and critic Dr Bharath Kumar Polipu.

Dr Polipu was speaking on the occasion of the release of 'Hacchitta Hanathegalu,' a book on the life experiences of female authors on the tenth anniversary of Karnataka Sangha, Mumbai and Srujana Mumbai Kannada female author's group. The programme was held on Saturday June 28 at the Samarasa Bhavan.

"If we observe the articles of female authors, many of them recollect the days of cultural prominence of their fathers. Women have grown within the frame work of tradition. The encouragement of the fathers cannot be ignored. We can see the confrontation between the urban and rural life. The work has enabled identification of the authors in village life and will inspire them," he said.

Deepa Hireguthi, a poet, columnist and an English lecturer who released the book praised the efforts of publishing such a work by female authors and recollected similar work in Marati on the occasion. She observed that the female authors in Kannada do not blame others for their difficulties.
