Modi visits Srinagar cantonment, addresses soldiers


Srinagar, July 4 (IANS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited the Badami Bagh cantonment here Friday during his day-long visit to Jammu and Kashmir and addressed the soldiers deployed in the Valley.

The prime minister flew into the Kashmir Valley Friday afternoon after inaugurating the Katra-Udhampur rail link in Jammu region, an official statement said.

He paid rich tributes to the martyrs at war memorial of the Chinar Corps (15 Corps) in the cantonment, and addressed the soldiers, said the statement

The prime minister was received by army vice chief, Lt.Gen. Dalbir Singh Suhag, Northern Command chief, Lt.Gen. D.S. Hooda, and Chinar Corps chief, Lt.Gen. Subrata Saha on his arrival.

"He commended the army for their selfless service to the cause of national security," the statement said.
