Six Taliban militants killed in Afghanistan


Kabul, July 5 (IANS): Six Taliban militants were killed and 10 others sustained injuries in a clash with security forces in Jarm district of Badakhshan province 315 km northeast of Kabul, a government spokesman said Saturday.

"A group of armed Taliban rebels attacked police checkpoints outside Jarm city Friday night and police returned the fire killing six militants on the spot and injuring 10 others," Ahmad Naved Frutan, spokesman of the provincial government, told Xinhua.

There were no casualties among the security personnel, he added.
