Price rise, rail fare hike disrupt Lok Sabha proceedings

New Delhi, Jul 7 (PTI): The issues of price rise and rail fare hike disrupted proceedings in Lok Sabha on the opening day of the Budget session today with Opposition insisting on a discussion on the matter through adjournment motions.

Speaker Sumitra Mahajan rejected the notices for adjournment motions but said she was ready to have special discussion under Rule 193 that does not entail voting.

Trouble started as soon as the Question Hour began, with members of Congress, Trinamool Congress, RJD, SP, Aam Aadmi Party and the Left trooping into the Well raising the issues of price rise and rail fare hike.

Mahajan's repeated pleas to allow the questions to be taken up went unheeded, leading to adjournment of the House for nearly 40 minutes till noon.

When the House re-assembled, similar scenes were witnessed.

Congress Deputy Leader Amarinder Singh said his party was pushing for the motion in view of the government's "failure" to check skyrocketing prices of essential commodities, including pulses and vegetables, hurting the common man.

"Why can't we have a discussion on the issue like in Rajya Sabha which suspended Question Hour to take up the discussion," Singh asked.

Parliamentary Affairs Minister Venkaiah Naidu said the government has nothing to hide and was ready for discussion on the matter under Rule 193.

The Speaker observed that she would not allow adjournment motion either on price rise or rail fare hike but was ready to have a discussion under Rule 193.

As agitating members were not satisfied, the Speaker said, "so you don't want the Zero Hour also" and adjourned the House at around 1215 hours till 1400 hours.

As such different excuses are given and some vocal stalwarts (like the PM\Ramdev\DP) have fallen silent on this matter of BM. Not only Ramdev others including some here too taken up wearing salwar khameez.
They have no shame at all and only thing they are trying to do right now is put all blame on UPA for saving their shameless face for their own inability to achieve anything by themselves.

They wanted the post of Leader of Opposition when the law clearly states a party with only 55 seats can have it. Heights of Politics. Congress Please behave well and win people.... Madam, What are the achievements, credentials to demand such a forceful "Demand"? When we indian voters have summarily rejected your government, governance, candidates and party, why are you still hankering for the LoP status? Do you have any credence and meaning to such stupid demands? Isn't that you want a bungalow, a car with Red light atop, and the status but not work towards such status? Isn't shameful that you are still demanding for recognition when you couldn't even win 10% of seats by this country? Isn't piuts for Congress and worse is they don't learn. At all.

Although BJP\Modi fooled people on price check among other things, no one can stop it as it is related to various things we import and have become very costlier. Government is bound to increase prices of all essential commodities as the cost of producing\manufacturing\storage and transporting has become costlier and will become more costlier if monsoons plays truant too. Consumers have to shell out\dip their hands deeper in their pockets.

Although people did not understand BJP's "By hook or crook" policy to only win election and promised control of inflation, now they are raising prices twice or more than the earlier UPA Govt.
"Doorada Betta Nennage" for those who believed BJP.
No disruption of Parliament sessions\shouting\agitating will help but will only increase the problem.
