Chennai, Aug 2: The mortal remains of all the 16 people, who perished in a fire at Bahrain on July 30, arrived by a Gulf Airlines flight.

The bodies were received by Union Minister of State for Law and Justice K Venkatapathy, Tamil Nadu Ministers Ponmudi, M R K Panneerselvam and T M Anbarasan, senior Congress leader Kumari Anandan, relatives of the deceased, representatives of various political parties, organisations of building workers and top revenue and police officials at the airport here.

After completing the customs and immigration formalities, all the 16 bodies were sent by separate ambulances with police escort to their respective native places in Cuddalore, Villupuram and Perambalur districts.

Of the 16 deceased, seven were from Cuddalore, eight from Villupuram and one from Perambalur district, official sources said.
