Mumbai, Aug 4: A senior official of VSNL was arrested for rash driving after his car allegedly hit a police constable early Thursday, police said.

Arvind Kapur, 30, a manager with Videsh Sanchar Nigam Limited (VSNL) was arrested after the car he was driving allegedly hit traffic police constable Abdul Gani Patel at Vile Parle on the Western Express Highway at around 2:00 am, police said.

The constable on duty at the Highway was instructing traffic to slow down in view of barricades erected on a stretch due to an oil spill, when he was hit by Kapur's car, police said.

The constable, who has suffered a fracture on his leg and minor injuries to his head, has been hospitalized.
