Divestment target of Rs.58.500 crore in budget 2014-15

New Delhi, July 10 (IANS): Finance Minister Arun Jaitley has kept a government disinvestment target of Rs.58,425 crore in the union budget 2014-15 presented Thursday to parliament.

The figure comprises Rs.43,425 crore from disinvestment in state-owned or public sector undertakings (PSUs) and Rs.15,000 crore from divesting government stake in non-government companies.

The receipts on account of disinvestment during 2013-14 have been shown at Rs.16,027 crore against the target of Rs.40,000 crore, as also presented by the previous finance minister P. Chidambaram in his interim budget in February.

However, both budget proposals this year do not give details of divestment actuals during the previous fiscal.

The PSUs disinvestment target of Rs.43,425 crore presented by the new finance minister is an upward revision from the target of Rs.36,925 crore proposed earlier in Chidambaram's budget.
