Rs.2,250 crore to modernise border infrastructure


New Delhi, July 10 (IANS): The government is setting aside Rs. 2,250 crore to strengthen and modernise border infrastructure, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley said Thursday.

The current budget hiked the allocation for this purpose by Rs.690 crore in comparison to Rs.1,560 crore provided the last fiscal.

"In addition a sum of Rs.990 crore has been allocated for the socio economic development of the villages along the borders while Rs.150 crore has also been ear-marked for the construction of Marine police stations and jetties, for the purchase of boats and other things," Jaitley said in his budget speech.
