Rio de Janeiro, July 14 (IANS/EFE): Brazil president Dilma Rousseff has said that the FIFA World Cup which ended Sunday with Germany winning the trophy, was a complete success but Brazil's elimination from the semifinal prevented it from being perfect.
"Brazilians keep the excitement and satisfaction of having organised a very successful event. The World Cup was not perfect because the sixth title was not achieved by the Brazil national team," said Rousseff in a message to mark the symbolic delivery of the Cup to Russia which will host the 2018 edition.
“Everyone who came to Brazil -- delegations, teams and tourists -- will take back the experience of having met a beautiful country, caring and responsive people, who have prevailing diversity," Rousseff added.
Rousseff handed the Cup to Russian president Vladimir Putin before the final match which saw Germany lifting the World Cup after a 1-0 win over Argentina.
