Three gored in Spanish bull-running festival

Pamplona (Spain) July 14 (IANS/EFE): Two Australians and a Spaniard were gored Monday during the Running of the Bulls Monday at the end of the San Fermin festivities in a Spanish city.

The five-minute bull running, the eighth and last of this year's festival, was the longest and most dangerous so far, after a lone bull stayed behind the pack and repeatedly lunged at runners.

A 26-year-old Australian was reported in serious condition after being gored three times, while a 24-year old compatriot was wounded in the right thigh, and a Spanish 21-year-old also suffered three goring wounds. Their prognosis was uncertain, medical sources said.

Five others were taken to a hospital with injuries to the head, the face and the arms after suffering falls during the run.

The festival attracts tens of thousands of people each year.
