Three killed in Srinagar road accident


Srinagar, July 16 (IANS): Three people were killed and three injured when an army vehicle collided with a taxi here Wednesday, police said.

The accident took place on the Srinagar-Muzaffarabad highway near HMT crossing, 10 km from Lal Chowk, the Srinagar city centre.

"Three passengers were killed in this accident while three others were injured," a senior police officer told IANS.

Eye-witnesses said a mob gathered at the accident site after the news spread in the area.

The mob damaged the army vehicle, triggering stone pelting against security forces who had rushed to the spot to control the situation.
