Mangalore, Aug 9: Hours after receiving the news that Mohammad Sattar, prime accused in the Akshata murder case of Puttur, had surrendered before the police after 44 days, some local organizations staged a protest in front of the Kadri police station demanding the immediate arrest of Laxman, the accused in the Vidyarani murder case on Tuesday August 8.
Akhila Bharatiya Janawadi Mahila Sanghatane, DYFI Jappinamogaru unit and youth from Jappinamogaru staged a protest rally in front of the Kadri police station on Tuesday. The protestors arrived in a procession of Nantoor and gathered in front of the Kadri station. They criticized the police for having failed to nab Laxman who had poisoned Vidyarani to death in his room. The agitators demanded the police to arrest Laxman at the earliest and punish him.
The agitators also expressed deep concern over the increase in harassment, murder, rape and abuse of women in the district.
Prema Shetty, Yadav Shetty, Manoj Shetty and Dinesh Shetty led the protest.
