Mangalore, Aug 9: Come the day of Raksha Bandhan, there is always a scramble at the shops for the rakhis or the wrist-bands, mainly representing the eternal and sublime bond between a sister and a brother.

They used to be simple in the past. But as years passed by, imagination and creativity have resulted in addition of more colours and modern appearance to the rakhis.

A sister and her brother  - not necessary born of the same parents - through the tying of the band confirm the sacred bond. The sister expects the same unrelenting love and protection from her brother.

However, rakhis are seen being tied by girls and women on  each other's as an expression of sisterly love.

Sphoorti Ullal, while on a stroll in the market looking for rakhis, captured some sisters concentrating on the choice of rakhis for thier brothers.
