BJP hints at having a go at forming govt in Delhi

New Delhi, July 16 (PTI) : Sources said in case BJP decides to form government, senior leader and former Finance Minister Jagdish Mukhi could be a strong contender for the Chief Minister's post. They said the party was confident of getting the required support of MLAs from other parties. After a meeting with party legislators, newly-appointed Delhi BJP Chief Satish Upadhyay said the party will consider formation of government if the Lt Governor invites it to take over the reins.

"We will consider it (formation of government) provided Lt Governor Najeeb Jung calls us," he said. He, however, said Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other senior leaders of the party will take a final call on the issue.

He held a separate meeting with all seven party MPs from Delhi yesterday to know their views on whether BJP should try to form a government in Delhi or prefer fresh polls.

In today's meeting, majority of the MLAs were in favour of the party forming the government.A significant number of party MLAs have already apprised the leadership about their unwillingness to face fresh polls and have been favouring taking a shot at government formation while some of the senior leaders were opposed to it.

The BJP had won 31 seats in the assembly polls in December last year but its number came down to 28 in the 70-member house after three of its legislators Harsh Vardhan, Ramesh Bidhuri and Pervesh Verma were elected to Lok Sabha. BJP's ally Akali Dal had won in one seat.

Following resignation of three BJP MLAs, the strength of the assembly has come down to 67 and BJP would require support of five more MLAs to form government.

President's rule was imposed in Delhi on February 17 after AAP government had resigned. Lt Governor Najeeb Jung is likely to send a report to the Centre in a month or two on the political situation.

The Union Cabinet is likely to take a decision on whether to extend President's rule by another six months or go for fresh polls.

The BJP had come first in 60 of the 70 assembly segments in the Lok Sabha polls.

Meanwhile, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has accused the BJP of trying to "buy" its MLAs and engaging in horse-trading.

    Out of below possibilities:

    (a) BJP defected Cong MLAs government
    (b) AAP support from congress (as earlier arrangement)
    (c) Continue Governor rule under Lt. Gen. Najeeb Jung
    (d) Fresh election at tax payer's money

I think (c) is the best as public tax money is saved in the name of fresh election & salary to ministers.

Good going BJP. Need of the hour:
India urgently need to do some judicial reforms for the best interest of the country and re-build the hopes in the the speedy judiciary. Justice delayed means justice denied. So, I hope some intellectuals read this and act on this:
    1. State High Courts needs to be elevate as State Supreme Court.
    2. Once State Supreme court gives death penalty to criminals then only state governor can decide his fate. Increase the death sentence rate urgently.
    3. National Supreme Court(NewDelhi) only can monitor state supreme court functionalities and can solve state level disputes (like Cauvery) other government related issues and civil disputes.

I hope that suitable constitution amendments will be done in coming Modi govt. days. Acche din aane wale hai!
    Thanks.

BJP is scared to face Delhi elections again. They know voters will compare AAP Govt's 49 day performance with Modi Govt's first 49 day performance. After comparing the two, the voters will vote for AAP again.

Its proving out to be disastrous for Delhi BJP.... Modi assured to bring down prices, but instead the price of basic commodities have sky rocketed.

'Operation Kamala- 2" by bJpee is a sign of nervousness. Its a pity that despite all those tall promises and ball-curry talk bjpee is failing and is now trying to pass the buck to opposition.

BJP is indulging in horse trading that will spoil their image. Fresh election is the only solution.
but BJP knows If they have election at Delhi, BJP will lose. It's better to buy some MLAs and do away with the risk of election.

Why BJP is not ready to take the election??? is it fearing the back lash of people for the lack luster BUDGET and the repetitive proof that the govt is falling behind when it comes to fulfilling their poll promises ....only time will tell.....but surely the aam admi party's popularity is rising like a phoenix after the general elections......still hoping for a change of guard....But is it too little too

Arvind Kejriwal has accused that BJP is trying to buy AAP MLA's with huge sum.
Karnataka BJP also had formed Govt in similar way.
In a way it is better for AAP, it is loosing unnecessary weight and unprincipled MLA's.
Anyway AAP wanted to be in opposition, they didn't have numbers!
BJP wants power, short of majority, but have money so they will get what they wanted.
Greedy MLA's will get money also!

After seeing everyone happy, is there anything remaining? To be seen,if people will get whatever they wanted!
