Heavy rains continue in Himachal


Shimla, July 19 (IANS): Heavy rainfall continued in Himachal Pradesh Saturday with some parts recording up to 85 mm of rainfall. More rains are in the offing, the Met office said.

Rajgarh in Sirmaur district recorded the highest rainfall in the state at 85 mm

"Precipitation occurred at most places with heavy rainfall in Sirmaur district since Friday," said an official of the Meteorological Department.

He said: "Similar weather conditions are likely to continue in the state till Sunday".

Solan town got 63 mm rainfall, while Gohar in Mandi district received 62 mm, Kandaghat 61 mm and Dharamsala 54 mm.

State capital Shimla, which recorded a minimum temperature of 15.8 degrees Celsius, got just 22.3 mm rain. Picturesque tourist resort Manali got just four mm rain.

A government spokesperson said the Satluj, Beas and Yamuna rivers and their tributaries are in spate in Kinnaur, Shimla, Kullu, Mandi, Bilaspur and Sirmaur districts.
