Typhoon Rammasun toll 94 in Philippines


Manila, Jul 20 (IANS): The number of people killed by typhoon Rammasun in the Philippines has risen to 77, the National Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said Sunday.

According to NDRRMC, more than 300 people were injured and six are still missing, Xinhua reported.

About 1.6 million people have been affected, out of which 518,764 have taken shelter in 1,264 evacuation centres.

The cost of damages is estimated to be 7.3 billion pesos (about $167.6 million).

Typhoon Rammasun, which made landfall in eastern province of Albay Tuesday night was the strongest typhoon to hit the country so far this year.
