Ghaziabad house looted of valuables worth Rs.20 lakh

Ghaziabad, July 21 (IANS): Half a dozen robbers Monday looted cash, jewellery, mobile phones, TV and other valuables worth around Rs.20 lakh from a doctor's house in Ghaziabad, police said.

Six robbers armed with pistols, iron rods and knives barged into Harsh Gupta's house in Rajendra Nagar Sector 2 around 4 a.m. by breaking the lock at the main gate.

The robbers took the six family members hostage, tied their hands behind their backs and dumped them inside a room, police said.

They snatched the keys of the almirahs and took away Rs.5 lakh in cash and jewellery worth over Rs.15 lakh. They also took away an LED television, mobile phones and fled in the family's sedan car.

However, before leaving, the robbers listened to the plea of Gupta's elderly father, and instructed one of their accomplices to unlock the doors.

The family members came out of the room and informed police.

A case of robbery has been registered, a team of officers formed and raids were being conducted to nab the criminals, said Hardayal Singh Yadav of Sahibabad police station.
