Mumbai, July 24: "I accept the felicitation by the Karnataka Sangha Kalyan wholeheartedly assuming that it is a felicitation by my home people. I have understood that it is our duty to part with a portion of what we earn with the less privileged and those deprived of education. What will be the use of giving our home-made preparation to a grass eating cow instead of a hungry beggar," questioned Dr Surendra V Shetty.
Dr Surendra Shetty, scholar, social worker and guide of Kalyan Sangha Kalyan was speaking during his felicitation programme held by the Sangha at Joker Plaza Girija Payyade hall at Kalyan west on Sunday July 20. Dr Surendra Shetty was awarded a doctorate at Malaysia recently.
Sangha president T S Upadhyaya presided over the programme. Kalyan area Deputy Commissioner of Police Sanjay Jadhav was the chief guest. Guests of honour, members of Giants International Ashok Hukkeri and Sangha founder president Nanda Shetty, advisor Bhaskar Shetty Gurudev, Ramesh D Shetty Ramdev, vice presidents Gopala Hegde and Ahalya Shetty who were present and they felicitated Dr Shetty by presenting a shawl, fruits, memento and a bouquet. Baby Surendra Shetty was felicitated by women's wing president Darshana Sonakar, vice president Ahalya Shetty, honorary secretary advocate Nutan Hegde, Geetha Poojary and Prashanti
Poojary.
Bhasker Shetty, Nanda Shetty and Dr Ullal Mallya spoke about Dr Surendra Shetty on the occasion. Ramana Shetty Renjala read a poem written about him. Members and children presented a cultural programme.
Professor Venkatesh Pai and other members congratulated Dr Surendra Shetty and honoured him. Sangha chief sponsors Vaman Shetty Ambarnath, Jagannath Shetty and Sundara Shetty were present on the occasion.
Vibha Deshmukh and Mahalaxmi Thorvi conducted a prayer session in the beginning. President T S Upadhyaya welcomed and vice president Gopala Hegde and Prakash Banare introduced the guests.
Prashanti Poojary and Geetha Poojary cooperated while Darshana Sonakar compered the programme and proposed the vote of thanks.
