Mangalore, Aug 15: Dr Shivprasad Rai, district commandant of Home Guards has been awarded with president's award for his excellent service in Home Guards. He had also been awarded with president's award in the year 2001 for his distinguished service in Home Guards.
He has been the district commandant of Home Guards for the last 9 years. He has been hailed for giving a new shape to the district unit of Home Guards and making it one of the best units in the state. The special flood rescue troop has been rendering yeoman's service not only in the district but throughout the state in times of floods and deluge.
Dr Shivprasad has also been awarded twice for his special civilian' service. An associate professor of surgery in KMC here, Dr Shivprasad has acquired special training in various related subjects.
Dr Shivprasad was honoured by district in-charge minister B Nagaraj Shetty during 59th Independence Day celebrations held at Nehru Maidan here on Tuesday August 15 morning.
