Moodbidri, Aug 15: The Independence Day was celebrated here at the Municipality. Present at the celebration was K Abhayachandra Jain, MLA, who said that the nation has progressed in the field of education and economy, owing to the various plans executed after Independence. “We owe our gratitude to the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the nation”, he added.
Ashok of Home Guards and Gopal, head, Municipal Water Maintenance Department, were honoured on the occasion.
Books were distributed to the Higher Primary school children by Abhayachandra Jain, on the occasion.
Premananda Prabhu, former president, Municipal, welcomed the gathering and compered the programme. Suresh Kotian, vice president, Municipal, proposed the vote of thanks.
Also present were Sunder, chief officer Babu and Rashmi, PHC doctor.
