Mumbai, July 25: International cricketer, Bharat Ratna Sachin Tendulkar recently planted a mango sapling at Rayan's International School, Rayans International Educational Institutes situated at Evershine City in Malad East and set the Vanamahotsava celebrations in
motion.
Addressing the students, he said that children should make it a habit to grow plants and make it a tradition in order for us to breathe fresh air. "Vanamahotsava programmes are conducive to such habits. The growth of plantations will enable us to get clean air and protect the natural environment. Protection of creatures in the world is the duty of children and educational institutes should inculcate such habits in them," he said.
"Knowledge of geography is essential to proceed in the modern era. Children should have awareness of their surrounding. The hard work of educational institutes will be worth only if the children reap the fruits of education," he added.
Rayan A Pinto, chief executive of Rayan International Group of Institutes gave an introductory speech appreciating the guidance of
president Dr Agustine F Pinto and active participation of managing director Madam Grace Pinto who he said moves like mercury to get the children educated. He felicitated Sachin Tendulkar with a memento and a bouquet on behalf of the Rayanites.
Rayan Pinto welcomed the gathering and Anirud Ayyangar read the Bible. Students sang a welcome song. Teacher Margaret Coelho compered the programme while Hitesh Shah proposed the vote of thanks.
In the programme held later during the day, Kaspersky ambassador Sachin Tendulkar inaugurated Kaspersky lab meant to stop cyber crime. Kaspersky Lab executive president Eugene Kaspersky, managing director Altaf Halde, director Maxim Mitrokhin, Anna Larkina, chief Rayan's official Neti Srinivasan and Shibani Sharma were present.
