Beltangady, Aug 16: An engineering student who had failed in his recent college examinations ended his life consuming poison at his grandfather’s house at Dharmasthala near here on Tuesday August 15 morning.
Hemagirish (24), son of Rudramuni of Tarikere had come to his grandparents' house where he consumed poison on Saturday August 12. He was then admitted to a private hospital at Mangalore where he breathed his last on Tuesday morning.
Hemagirish's maternal grandfather Umapati Shastri is working for Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwar Cultural Research Centre. Hemagirish was studying engineering while residing in one of his uncles G V Siddalingayya's house at Shimoga.
It is said that he had failed in his engineering exams. So he had come to his grandparents' house at Dharmasthala to over come depression which he was going through for sometime. However, he ended his life by consuming poison at his grandparents' house.
Siddalingayya has filed a case with the Beltangady police in this regard.
