Mangalore, Aug 16: The district Congress will hold a day-long silent protest in the city on Saturday August 19 against the increasing number of attacks on minority institutions by Sangh Parivar.
This was announced by former state minister Ramanath Rai in a press conference held at Circuit House at Kadri here on Wednesday August 16 morning. The protest will be held in front of the deputy commissioner's office here on Saturday.
Speaking the press conference, Ramanath Rai also said that Sangh Parivar has been promoting attacks on shops, restaurants and other business concerns owned by minority communities. He further said that the ruling party has been acting like the opposition party in the district. "A total of 54 protest rallies have been held by organizations which come under Sangh Parivar. This indeed points out the total failure of police department and the district administration," he added.
Mayor Ashraf, former mayor Shashidhar Hegde, MCC corporator Lancelot Pinto, Congress leaders Ivan D'Souza, U T Khadar, Kallige Taranath Shetty and others were present at the press conference.
