Bantwal: Student achievers honoured at Pratibha Puraskar event

Media Release

Bantwal, July 28: Catholic Sabha ICYM and Parish Pastoral council of Vittal organized Prathibha Puraskar for the youth who scored highest marks in PUC and degree.

Parish priest Fr Eric Crasta presided over the program; Catholic Sabha Central Council vice president Anil Lobo Fermai and Xaviour D'souza, principal of Puttur Government College were the chief guests. Pastrol council vice president Louis Mascarenhas welcomed the gathering.

Speaking on the occasion Xaviour Dsouza said, "The youth must join the government sector and find their carrier in government jobs. They must further study and achieve higher positions in government sectors. Today we hardly find any Catholics in government jobs. As parents we must educate the youth to follow a good leader’s thoughts. In Japan they display the leaders’ statue on the roadside so that children follow their leaders. Similar way we must help our youth to follow the leaders."

Speaking on the occasion Anil said that it was his place and that he was proud that he belonged to Vittal. In the earlier days it was difficult to study, but now the education system has changed. There are plenty of opportunities for higher studies but competition has also increased. So the parents should help youth in completing their education.

In his president speech Fr Eric said, "Education is most important but value system also important in our lives. We must learn how to mix with people, how to respect them and how to live our life with respect and honesty. Earlier days children used to talk to guests and relatives, but now days they do not. They spend their all time with the mobiles and listening to music."

He urged the parents to guide their children to learn good values.

Thirteen students were honored for their achievements and cash was handed over to one family in need.

Fr Ediwin Monis ICYM president, Loyed Catholic Sabha president and Louis Dias were present.
