Udupi, Aug 18: The Padubidri police led by SI Naveenchandra nabbed four persons including two security persons with regard to a chain snatching case on Wednesday August 16.

The arrested have been identified as Chandra (36) alias Chandrahas Hegde, Shiva alias Shivanna Shetty (22), Natesh alias Ganesh Bangera (22) and Harish Poojary (33).  While Chandra and Ganesh are security guards by profession, Harish is a tailor.

On Tuesday August 15, the accused had fled the place after snatching a gold chain worth Rs 20,000 from one Ida D'Souza's (45) neck at Neechalu bus stand near Santhoor Kopla here.  She immediately shouted for help and news was passed on to Padubidri police station.

The police in an immediate action managed to nab Shivanna and Chandra.  But they did not have the stolen booty.  During enquiry then revealed that the chain was with Ganesh who is also the prime accused.  So police managed to arrest Angaragundi resident Ganesh in Karkala.  Even here police had to face failure as chain had been given to the master mind of the theft Harish Poojary who is a tailor.

The police intensified their action and arrested from his home and recovered the gold chain.  All this happened within 24 hours of theft.

A case now has been filed with the Padubidri police.
