Udupi, Aug 19: Padubidri police inspector Naveenchandra Jogi and his team succeeded in arresting a bike lifter within 24 hours of stealing a bike from Inna in Karkala taluk on Friday August 19 evening.
The arrested has been identified as Akbar Sab Nadab (22), son of Ismail Sab Nadab, Sirimapura, Haveri district. He was employed in sand mining at Inna and used to reside in a rented house there.
On Wednesday August 18, he had stolen the mobike (Hero Honda Splendor KA 20 Q 1491) of one Raveendran, which was parked in front of his house. A complaint in this regard was filed with the Padubidri police.
A police team of Padubidri police station was immediately pressed into action who nabbed one suspect Akbar. The said Hero Honda Splendor Motor Cycle worth Rs. 30,000 was later recovered form the accused Akbar Sab Nadab. Accused is arrested and investigation is on.
The sources said that the police were having the usual patrolling at Yermal-Kalsanka, when the accused came riding the bike. When the police asked him to stop the bike, he did not. He left the bike and fled the place. But the police succeeded in arresting him after chasing for a while.
