Mangalore, Aug 20: Monappa Bhandary has been elected as the president of the Mangalore Bar Association. At the election held here on Saturday, Aug 19, Bhandary, who is a BJP spokesperson and the two-term Executive Committee member defeated Asha Nayak by 32 votes.

A total of 570 members voted at the election. Bhandary got  296 votes, while Asha Nayak won only 264 votes

Ashok Ariga has been appointed as the vice-president, Radha Rao as joint secretary, Santhosh Rai as general secretary and Sadashiva Rao as treasurer.
