Kundapur, Aug 20: After the alleged attack of a person by police personnel, a couple of weeks before, Kundapur saw a similar situation. Irked by the alleged inhuman treatment meted by the Byndoor Police on ‘innocent civilians’, the residents of Harehole raised their voices in protest.

On Saturday, the residents organized a protest rally against the assault of gram panchayat member and three others by the police.

It is said that the police attacked Manjunath Devadiga who is a GP member and also the proprietor of a shop selling electrical goods. Rickshaw driver Shivaram Mogaveera, Suresh Devadiga and Raghavendra Poojary were injured and have been admitted to the hospital.

The Harehole residents also held a protest in front of the Kundapur Government Hospital where the injured were admitted. Assistant Superintend of Police Satish Kumar visited the injured and assured action against the wrong doers.

However, Byndoor police have denied any assault. The police department has been given an ultimatum of 24 hours to initiate action against the erring officers.
