Mangalore, Aug 20: A surprise raid on several internet cafes operating in the city resulted in the arrest of six persons.

The raids were to check the adherence to the law relating to pornography and the Information Technology (Karnataka) Rules, 2004 that prescribe certain guidelines for the running of cyber centers.

The raids were conducted under the supervision of Harishchandra DySP Mangalore City Subdivision and several police inspectors, sub inspectors of the city.

During these raids, at five cyber centers pornographic video clippings/photographs were found stored in the hard disks of the computer systems for the purpose of displaying to the customers.

Accordingly all these computers and peripherals have been seized and criminal cases have been taken up in the jurisdictional police stations. Total 06 persons responsible for this have also been arrested.

Worldview Cyber Center located at Stone building near Lady Goshan Hospital was raided and two persons (Kasim (52) of Pandeshwar and Krishna Prasad (22) of Valencia Mangalore) were arrested.

Cyber view Internet Cafe located at Mulihitlu, Cyber zoom Internet Cafe located at Valencia, Mobile Communications Internet Cafe located at Rao and Rao circle and Net Galaxy located at Kunil Complex were raided and Yatish (25) of Bolar, Vinod Pereira (27) of Ganjimath, Devaraj (36) of Mannagudde and Chandrahas (24) of Falnir were arrested.
