Mumbai, Aug 1: Dakhsina Kannada district 19th Kannada Sahitya Sammelana will be held on August 2 and 3, at Polali Shankara Narayana Shasthri hall, Badakabail Parameshwarayya premises, Sri Kshetra Sri Rajarajeshwari temple yard, Bantwal.

Kannada Sahitya Parishath, Dakshina Kannada district president Pradeep Kumar Kalkura said, "DK district Minister for Forest, Environment and Ecology B Ramanath Rai will preside and managing editor of Taranga Sanghya Pai will inaugurate the ceremony."


The Late Dr Ammembala Balappa exhibition will be inaugurated by minister U T Khadar and Adigalu Madhav Bhat book exhibition will be inaugurated by MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, a library will be inaugurated by senior writer Yerya Lakshmi Narayana Alva. Minister K Abhaychandra Jain will attend the closing ceremony while senior writer Dr Sunitha M Shetty will give the valedictory speech.

The convention will hold scholarships, talks, debates, special talks for the senior writers and Suresh Shetty Yeyadi, Mumbai will be the guest of honour for the comedy show.

In the two days convention, cultural programmes will be organized; On Saturday there will be Kannada songs, Yakshagana, Bharatanatyam, puppetry, Hindustani devotional songs, Saxophone recital and various other programmes.

"Bantwal Kannada Sahitya Parishath president Jayanand Peraje, welcoming committee convener professor Shankar Shetty, Chandrashekar Bhandari, general secretary Venkatesh Nadava, honorary secretary Ithappa Naik and others are prepering for the conference. Karnur Mohan Rai and Rons Bantwal will be felicitated during the ceremony," said Pradeep Kumar Kalkura.
