Robotics and Automation Society launched in Kerala


Thiruvananthapuram, Aug 4 (IANS): The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) Monday launched the Kerala chapter of the Robotics and Automation Society (RAS) to promote research, development, innovation, and standardization.

"Our aim is to function as an active forum for professionals working in robotics and automation in Kerala. We will support the government agencies in matters related to robotics and automation. We will also help student in engineering colleges," said RAS chapter chairman Rejin Narayanan.

This will be the third such initiative in India.

RAS is an interdisciplinary field and will act as a platform for professionals from different disciplines to come together.

Seven robotic projects developed by students from three engineering colleges in the state was exhibited as part of this programme. 

RAS's objectives are scientific, literary and educational in character. The society strives for the advancement of the theory and practice of robotics and automation engineering and science.
