Body found near Bhatkal railway station; murder suspected

Bhatkal, Aug 5: A dead body was found near the Bhatkal Railway station. The police suspecting murder have taken two people into custody.

The body identified as Mohammed Akram Abdus Samad (32) is a resident of Bilalkhada Gulmi.


The incident occured on Monday August 4. The body was found near the railway tracks and very clearly shows that it was a murder. The man was beaten with poles and his head was beaten with a stone.

The body was taken to the Bhatkal Government Hospital for the postmortem and was later handed over to the family members.

Akram is survived by two children.

Locals say that Akram was a labourer. He used to be drunk every night and was last seen in the area on Sunday night at 8. His body was found later in the morning.

It is said that he was beaten between 10 and 11 at night.

After getting the information Bhatkal CPI Prashant S Naik and Bhatkal Rural PSI Manjunath rushed to the spot. A case has been registered at Bhatkal Rural police station and investigation is going on.
