Bangalore, Aug 24: Vijayalakshmi, film actress and anchor of the popular Kannada serial Bangarada Bete, attempted suicide yesterday in her apartment in Chennai.
It is said, Vijayalakshmi came home on Tuesday night and consumed an overdose of sleeping pills and did not get up at the usual time the next morning.
Family members shifted her to Apollo Hospital and she was kept in ICU. She is said to be out of danger, according to Pandi Police, who have registered a case.
Apart from TV serials, Vijayalakshmi also acted in Kannada films like Jodihakki, Nagamandala and others.
It is suspected that a film director was pestering her to marry him which led to her dejection in life.
