Mangalore, Aug 24: Beedi workers once again took to the streets on Thursday August 24 demanding the fulfillment of their various demands.  The beedi workers led by AITUC demanded for minimum wages and scholarships as ordered by High Court.

Addressing the agitators, AITUC secretary Chandappa Anchan said that despite their contribution to the society in various ways, beedi workers are being trampled.  "So the government and the beedi company owners should come together in order to provide justice to the beedi workers," he demanded.

V S Berinja, AITUC office-bearers Meenakshi N, Vasanthi R Shetty and others led the protest march which began at PVS Circle and ended in front of the deputy commissioner's office.
