Mumbai, Aug 7: Veeranjaneya Swamy Kshetra Odiyooru Mutt's head priest Gurudevananda Swamiji visited Mahishamardhini temple of Jayaraj Nagar at Borivli east on Wednesday August 6 and blessed the devotees.
The head priest held Arati prayers to Mahishamardhini Devi, Ganapathi, Raktheshwari Devi and Kodamanithaya deities. He lit the traditional lamp and set the meeting in motion.
He said that the temple established by late Hariyalaguthu Sridhar Chandayya Shetty is like a pilgrimage center for the people of
Tulunadu. "Though Nagaradhane and Bhootharadhane and such other tradition and culture are on the verge of extinction, the devotees in Mumbai are trying to keep them alive. We get a feeling of pride when we see the development of Tulu-Kannada mother tongues and their importance in the suburbs of Mumbai," he added.
"There is a need of the knowledge of Almighty among youth for the protection of religion and country. Only when the new generation is
taught the celebrations concerning religion will their all round development possible," he said.
Temple trustees Shalini Pradeep C Shetty and Dhanya P Shetty performed Padapooje of Sripada. Sadhwi Srimatanandamayi led the prayer. Mahishamardhini Bhajana Mandali performed Bhajans.
Trustees of the temple, Kallamandkooru Hariyalaguthu Jayaraj Sridhar Shetty, Swapna J Shetty, Yuvan J Shetty, Jayapali Ashok Shetty, Jayanth Chandayya Shetty, Venkatramana Tanthri, Belapuguthu Vishwanath M Shetty, Vasu K Putran, Praveen S Shetty, Balakrishna Rai, Prakash Shetty Petemane, Anand Ail, Sachin Shetty, Mohan Hegde, the team of temple priests and devotees participated in the religious programme. Venkatramana Tantri celebrated the main programme and distributed prasada. Odiyurushree blessed the devotees after distributing fruits, blessed rice and Kumkum.
