Judges' vacancies: HC notice to Delhi government

New Delhi, Aug 7 (IANS): The Delhi High Court Thursday issued a notice to the Delhi government and high court registrar on a plea seeking direction to fill up all existing 262 vacancies of lower court judges.

A division bench of Justices S. Ravindra Bhat and Vipin Sanghi asked the government and the registrar to file their response by Nov 10.

The court's direction came on a PIL filed by advocate R.K. Kapoor, asking the bench to direct the high court administration to advertise all the 262 existing vacancies of judges.

Kapoor said that by the Feb 18 notification, 80 vacancies were advertised for recruitment to the Delhi Judicial Service (DJS). However, there are 262 vacancies.
