Kasargod: Heavy rain resumes after short break; causes destruction

Kasargod, Aug 9: The heavy rain in the district for the last two days after a short break has caused huge loss.

As water level in Kumble Shiri lake has increased, the Bambrana valley is inundated and more than 65 families have been shifted. Water has entered 20 houses. Several houses are facing the risk of collapse.

The team led by Manjeshwar tahsildar N Prabhakaran and Koipadi rural official M B Lokesh has visited the place.

Traffic on Badiadka – Cherkala road was in disarray for several hours after mud collapsed on the road. The district administration has said that 1943 mm of rain has fallen in the district between June 6 and
August 7 this year.

The rain has caused a loss of Rs 3.35 crores to the crops. 20 houses are completely damaged while 274 houses are partly damaged. 13 people have died.
