Udupi, Aug 12: The annual feast of St Lawrence Shrine, Attur, was held on Sunday August 10 with much devotion in the presence of many devotees. Fr Joseph Martis, rector, Jeppu Seminary, was the main celebrant at the mass.

The Holy Eucharistic celebration was held with Fr George D’Souza, St Lawrence Shrine, Attur, parish priest, Fr Charles Lewis, priest, Attur Karkala, Fr Richard Corello of Fr Muller’s and nine other co-celebrants.

Fr Joseph Martis, speaking on the occasion, said, “We have to adore with the Holy Family Church, thus, it leads to redemption of God. It is impossible to spoil the peace of the church, now and in future.”

He said that each member of the family plays a crucial role in the development of the church. “This is a collective family with Jesus Christ as the chief. Many people have tried to shatter the Church, but face failure. He believes that the Eucharist is strength in human difficulty,” he added stating that Saint Lawrence had devoted himself to the Holy Church and had rendered his sincere service to development too.

Earlier, people who benefited from the Holy Church were presented blessed candles by parish priest of St Lawrence Shrine.

A large number of devotees thronged the church premises to seek blessings and participate in the celebrations. Various stalls added to the festivity.

Parish council vice-president Richard Pinto, secretary Santhosh D’Souza, and council members volunteered their services.
