In the recent past, a meeting of Anganwadi Coordination Committee, chaired by president Umavati was held. The meeting was attended among others, by the panchayat president Parameshwar Poojary. In curious developments which took place later, the Anganwadi worker got admitted to the government hospital here and registered a rape attempt and life threat cases against the panchayat president as well as the father of a child, K Anand Gowda.

Before the protest was held on Tuesday, a meeting had been convened with the participation of the villagers, to find an amicable solution to the problem. The meeting was attended by taluk panchayat vice president, Vishnu Marathe and some officials.

It is learnt that the district deputy director in the Department of Social Welfare will visit the village shortly in an effort to ensure
that the dispute meets a logical end. The villagers said that the Anganwadi will remain locked till this happens.

The locals, who alleged that the filing of complaint was backed by evil designs woven by vested interests out to tarnish the image of the accused, held a protest on Tuesday August 12 and locked the Anganwadi centre. They demanded for the withdrawal of the complaint and the transfer of the Anganwadi worker.
