Mangalore: Chain snatchers yank away chain valued at Rs 1.5 lac

Mangalore, Aug 14: Two unknown youth, who approached retired headmistress, Indira, who was waiting for a bus near the bus shelter at Kudupu Bhatrakody here, snatched away her karimani chain valued approximately at Rs 1.5 lac. The incident occurred on Wednesday August 13.

Indira said in her complaint, that the duo, who were seated on a motor bike, came from the direction of Neermarga, stopped the two-­wheeler near her and asked her for directions to Ranebennur. As soon as she said that Ranebennut is not situated in the region, the pillion pulled her chain and she fell on the ground due to the sudden jerk.

She said that the youth then snatched the chain and drove towards Baiturli.

The rural police have registered a case and have begun the investigation.
