Mangalore, Aug 31: The State-level single window clearance committee has approved the investment proposals of two more companies at the Export Promotion Industrial Park (EPIP) at Ganjimat, near here, according to official sources. With this the total number of proposals cleared at EPIP has risen to eight with a total investment of Rs. 300 crore, sources told on Wednesday.
Earlier the committee had approved the investment proposals of six companies at EPIP with an investment of Rs 250 crore.
According to sources, with the clearance of eight proposals the allotment of land reserved for industrial units at EPIP was complete.
Only a portion of land had been reserved for public auction. Most of the eight proposals cleared are related to information technology. This includes the establishment of a business process outsourcing (BPO) unit.
The two new proposals were approved at the 23rd meeting of the committee recently. One company has come forward to invest Rs 47.06 crore in the information technology sector.
This company has been allotted 28 acres at the EPIP. Another company involved in the manufacture of "signages" has proposed to invest Rs. 3 crore. Sources said that the Karnataka Industrial Areas Development Board (KIADB) had sent a proposal to the Government for the acquisition of 764 acres in Mudipu area in Bantwal taluk for setting up general-purpose industries. This was in addition to 511 acres meant for Information Technology Special Economic Zone (IT-SEZ) at Phajir-Kairangala and Kurnad areas in Bantwal taluk.
But the Adyapadi Check Dam Water Users' Committee has opposed the Government's plan to supply water to the proposed industrial units at EPIP from a check dam built across the Phalguni River (also known as Gurupur River). People of Mulur, Moodushedde, Kandavar, Ulaibettu, Ganjimat and Kariyangala opposed the same. At a meeting held here recently the district administration decided to resolve this issue by constituting a committee.
