Mangalore, Sep 3: A symposium on short stories was organized by the Kannada Sangha of St Aloysius College, in association with Neenasam Samskritika Parthishtana here on Saturday.
Speaking on the occasion Neenasam Samskriti Prathishtana Director Prof T P Ashok said that modern short stories are dull and not lively unlike folk stories.
Stating that short stories are one of the oldest forms of literature Ashok said the modern short stories are interwoven in the lives of human beings. As a result, it has become very dull.
The two-day symposium on study of short stories was inaugurated by Vaidehi, a renowned Kannada writer. In a novel way, the event was inaugurated by flying the cock.
The symposium received a huge students’ support with more than 160 students from over 20 colleges participating in it.
College Principal Fr Eugene Lobo, Dr Na Damodar Shetty and resource persons Srikantamurthy, G Rajashekar and M S Nagaraj Rao were present on the dais.
