Mangalore, Sep 6: A young man who had come for swimming at Panambur beach along with his friends drowned on Monday September 4.

The deceased has been identified as Lohitashwa (30), a resident of Kuntoor in Puttur.  He was working as a cleaner in a tipper.  On Monday evening he had come to Panambur beach with some of his friends.  They had gone for swimming when a mighty wave washed away Lohitashwa.  Though his friends tried to rescue him, they did not succeed.

His body has not yet been found.  The police and some expert swimmers have launched search operations to trace the body.

Panambur police have registered a case in this regard.
