Mangalore, Sep 6: The district-level Teachers' Day celebrations organised by the Zilla Panchayat in collaboration with Department of Public Instruction was inaugurated by district in-charge minister Nagaraj Shetty on Tuesday September 5 here.

Twelve teachers, all from the district, were felicitated on the occasion. Winners of the national-level and state-level Best Teacher Award for this year Vani B Achar of Pompei High School, Thallipadi and Narayana Bhat T of Sri Ramakunjeshwara Higher Primary School respectively were also felicitated.

Several teachers won district-level awards in the primary and high school categories.

Retired teachers and schools which secured cent percent results in the SSLC examinations were also honoured on the occasion.

 Among those present were mayor K Ashraf, ZP president Mamata D S Gatti, deputy commissioner Maheshwara Rao, ZP CEO A M Kunjappa, vice-president Dharanendra Kumar, DDPI Shankarappa and BEO Walter H D'Mello.
