BJP lawmakers in Kashmir asked to expedite relief work


New Delhi, Sep 4 (IANS): BJP president Amit Shah Thursday extended his condolences to the flood victims in Jammu and Kashmir and appealed to party lawmakers and workers in the state to help in relief work, a party statement said.

"Expressing his concern" at the situation in Jammu and Kashmir which has been hit by floods and landslides, the Bharatiya Janata Party chief urged party MPs, legislators, representatives of local bodies and party cadre to help expedite relief work in the affected areas, the statement said.

Shah further urged that all possible help should be rendered to people affected by natural calamities.

The toll in the Jammu and Kashmir floods rose to 15 Thursday as incessant rain, which is likely to continue till Saturday, wreaked havoc in parts of both Jammu region as well as the Kashmir Valley.
