Ten girls drown during festival in Bihar


Patna, Sep 5 (IANS): In a shocking incident, ten girls drowned in in Bihar's Gaya and Patna district during a bath on a local Hindu festival Friday, police said.

Twenty-one girls slipped into deep water in a dam in Barwadih village under Barachatti police station, Gaya, about 100 km from here, police said.

Twelve girls were rescued. The bodies of six have been recovered while three are missing, police said.

All these girls were observing a fast to pray for the long life of their brothers.

In another incident in Patna, four minor girls drowned in a water body in Jainandanpur village, police said.
