Flood waters inundate most of Srinagar

Srinagar, Sep 8 (IANS): Flood waters Monday inundated most of the residential and commercial areas in Srinagar, as people scrambled to save whatever they could from the muddy, swirling water.

An estimated 70 percent of the areas remained inundated for the second day Monday.

Water entered shops at the main business hub of Lal Chowk and Residency road and shopkeepers tried to retrieve the goods from the flooded shops.

All means of communications, including radio and television stations, were shut Sunday after flood water entered the installations.
